Mit dieser Box setzen wir die erfolgreiche Serie unserer RocknRoll-Wiederveröffentlichungen fort. Zwar hat es keiner der insgesamt 200 Songs in die Hitlisten geschafft, dafür gibt es auf den zehn CDs reihenweise Raritäten, die das Herz aller Musikfans und Sammler höher schlagen lassen. Denn wer heute die Original-Vinylsingles kaufen wollte - die kaum noch aufzutreiben sind - der müsste dafür ein kleines Vermögen investieren. Die meisten Platten der weitgehend unbekannten Interpreten wurden nur in kleinen Auflagen produziert und gelten heute als wertvolle Sammlerstücke, für die bei Internet-Auktionen und auf Börsen Höchstpreise bezahlt werden.

Nur wenige Sänger in dieser Box galten in den 1950er Jahren als Hitlieferanten wie zum Beispiel Roy Orbison, Conway Twitty oder Dion and the Belmonts. Ihre Hochzeit als wilde RocknRoller trat mit dem Ende des Jahrzehnts in die Schlussphase, denn in Hamburg standen 1960 bereits die Beatles in den Startlöchern - damals noch gänzlich unbekannt. Und der King of RocknRoll musste zwischen 1958 und 1960 pausieren und seinen Wehrdienst im hessischen Friedberg leisten; danach sang Elvis lieber Balladen wie Its now or never und drehte belanglose Filmchen.

Obwohl diese 200 Titel die Endphase des klassischen RocknRoll bis 1960 markieren, haben sie auch Jahrzehnte später noch nichts von ihrer Dynamik verloren und begeistern heute bereits die dritte Generation. Selbst Sammler suchten lange Zeit vergeblich nach seltenen Songs von Kayo and the Trinities oder The Wynnewoods - deshalb darf diese kompetente Zusammenstellung in keinem CD-Regal fehlen. Dass auch die Frauen ordentlich rocken konnten, machen unter anderem Anastasia, Lilian Briggs, Carole King und Debbie Reynolds deutlich - Namen, die man nicht unbedingt mit RocknRoll verbindet. Doch nach dem Erfolg von Bill Haleys Rock Around The Clock und Elvis Presleys Hitserie Mitte der 1950er Jahre versuchten sogar viele Schauspieler(innen), sich ein Stück vom Kuchen zu sichern. So ist diese neue Box eine echte Fundgrube und Schatzkiste für alle Fans, die hier viele Entdeckungen machen können. Die weitgehend unbekannten Interpreten und Songs zeigen, wie innovativ und vielseitig damals diese Musik war, die sich heute zunehmender Beliebtheit bei einer jungen Generation erfreut. Aber auch eingefleischte Sammler, die schon alles zu besitzen meinen, können auf diese Neuerscheinung nicht verzichten.
