“RA” marked the beginning of a new era for Germany's most successful art and progressive rock band Eloy. The previous line-up had completely disbanded. However, band founder Frank Bornemann, as singer, guitarist, songwriter and producer of the band, was still bursting with ideas with which he wanted to continue the band's successful path. In keyboarder Michael Gerlach, he finally found a like-minded partner who was able to immerse himself in the musical visions and who, with his perfectly suited equipment, was able to create sound images that, in combination with guitar and vocals, led to unique compositions.
With “RA”, Eloy addressed a topic that, from today's perspective, must be seen as almost prophetic in view of the fatal developments on our planet and in society. Eloy mastermind Frank Bornemann explains today that, even back then, he felt that humanity was taking its first steps into an imminent turning point, the consequences of which were still unforeseeable in detail but would irreversibly change life completely. The scenario on the album, which is ultimately defined and reflected in the core content of “RA”, may still exceed some of the limits of today's events, but that doesn't make it any less exciting, and the music is definitely one of a kind.
